About 8 or so years ago I got the strangest fortune that has kept me pondering for a long time. It said “The rubber bands are heading in the right direction.” Really?
So, I thought and thought about this fortune. Rubber bands? Well, what if you wanted to shoot your rubber bands, you know, fire them like a gun? Well, if they aren’t heading in the right direction, they will backfire on you and I imagine sting you pretty hard. Did you also know that there are multiple ways to fire rubber bands? It’s true. There is even a wikihow entry on it: https://m.wikihow.com/Fire-a-Rubber-Band.
Hmm. Firing rubber bands. Shooting something precisely so that it doesn’t back fire. That is kind of what it’s like to start a company. You get things together and hope you line them up just the way they need to so that what you’ve done doesn’t fire back and hurt (too much). But as we all know, we can’t always line things up perfectly, but can only hope we do most of the time. There isn’t a quick wiki to show us how, but there are advisors, employees and clients to let us know when things are heading in the right direction.
Need help lining up the people side of your rubber bands? Why not call The HR Team to show you how.
Until next month!
