Kathy Barnett joined The HR Team in February 2011. She has over 18 years of human resources experience. Kathy has extensive experience coaching and partnering with leaders and cross-organizational teams in the areas of recruiting, compensation & benefits, staff training & development, employee relations, organizational development and performance management. Her primary has been with software/IT companies.
Prior to joining The HR Team, Kathy operated People Strategy Partners for over 5 years as the principal consultant delivering consulting and outsourced human resources services to small to medium sized companies. Prior to her own business, she worked for 3 years at Etenna Corporation, a wireless antenna engineering firm, as their Human Resources Manager. In this role she worked closely with the President and CEO as well as other department heads to determine and implement the strategic direction of the company. Kathy also worked at Aquilent, Inc. as the Human Resources Manager for 3 years were she was responsible for partnering with Aquilent’s leadership and staff to provide strategic planning, organizational development, employee relations, performance management, training & development and compensation and benefits support. In addition, she led the HR function and served as a member of the leadership team responsible for facilitating Aquilent's management buy out (MBO) from Commerce One.
Prior to Aquilent, Kathy had varying human resources positions with CMSI, GTS Duratek, USF&G, and Pro Staff Personnel Services.
Kathy holds a Masters in Applied Behavioral Science from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD with a concentration in Organizational Development/Human Resources Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral and Social Sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD with a concentration in Government & Politics.
